This website is dedicated
to Emilie (Amelia) Kringel
who nurtured
love and creativity
in herself and succeeding generations.
She came to the United States
from Denmark,
at age 14,
making the ocean crossing
in the 1800's,
alone.

She married the love of her life,
Julius Martin Kringel,
who homesteaded in Minnesota and Iowa.
They passed along the love of doing a job well
and with beauty.
It is said she made the most beautiful soap in the county.
Her handwork has been passed lovingly from one generation to another.
She is my great grandmother.
